WaveBots Editor is a standalone, procedural music and sound effect (SFX) generator for Windows, developed by creator “krasse”. It allows game developers and sound designers to instantly generate cohesive audio assets—including full songs, stingers, and sound effects—for entire projects with a single click. The application is hosted on Itch.io. Core Features
Project Bundles: Users can link parameters across templates, binding audio generation to a shared musical scale, set of instruments, and rhythmic patterns to keep the project’s audio unified.
Advanced Music Editing: Includes detailed editors for building and tweaking songs, figuration lines, chord settings, scale modes (such as Dorian and Lydian), and individual phrases.
Built-in Synthesizer: Features a flexible synth engine capable of subtractive, additive, Frequency Modulation (FM), and physical synthesis using modular routing.
Soundfont Rendering: Supports rendering MIDI files using Soundfont (SF2) data directly into WAV files. File Export & Formats
The software is split into two versions, depending on the required file exports:
Free Demo Version: Fully functional for generation but restricted to WAV file exports.
Full Paid Version ($15): Unlocks advanced tracking and retro exports, including MIDI, GoatTracker, PICO-8, TIC-80, and FamiTracker. Usability & Workflow
The editor operates primarily through procedural templates. Because building complex procedural music from scratch can be challenging, the developer recommends generating a baseline track from a template first, then modifying individual phrases, voice leadings, and harmonies manually.
If you are a retro or indie game developer, WaveBots Editor serves as an efficient tool to build dynamic chiptune and synthesizer soundtracks.
