An Air-Cooled Heat Exchanger (ACHE), often called a fin-fan cooler, rejects heat from a hot process fluid directly to the ambient air. Unlike water-cooled systems that rely on cooling towers, ACHEs use axial flow fans to force or induce atmospheric air across a bank of finned tubes.
